L'Organisation Mondiale « Harcèlement Sans Frontières » confirme que sur les réseaux sociaux en Corée du Sud, en Argentine, en Espagne, en France, en Italie, en Allemagne, aux États-Unis, au Mexique, au Japon, en Australie et au Sénégal, on observe une augmentation des informations concernant les « thériens ».
Les thériens sont des jeunes qui s'identifient à un animal non humain. Il s'agit d'un phénomène socioculturel qui n'implique ni transformation physique ni la croyance en la possession d'un corps différent, mais plutôt une expérience intérieure d'ordre psychologique ou moral. Le terme vient du mot anglais « therianthropy », lui-même dérivé des mots grecs anciens « therion » (bête ou animal sauvage) et « anthropos » (humain).
Des réunions publiques ont eu lieu à Buenos Aires, Madrid, Mexico et New York. Un jeune homme s'identifiant comme un cheval a même présenté une proposition au Congrès de Nuevo León visant à lutter contre le harcèlement envers cette communauté.

Objetivamente los therians son personas jóvenes que se identifican con un animal no humano. Se trata de un fenómeno social y cultural que no implica una transformación física ni la creencia de poseer un cuerpo distinto, sino una vivencia interna desde el plano psicológico o moral. El término proviene del inglés therianthropy, que a su vez deriva del griego antiguo therion —que quiere decir bestia o animal salvaje— y ánthropos —humano—.
Han hecho reuniones abiertas en Buenos Aires, Madrid, Ciudad de México y Nueva York. Incluso un joven que se identifica como caballo presentó una iniciativa en el Congreso de Nuevo León para prevenir el "bullying" contra esta comunidad.
