Die Weltorganisation „Mobbing ohne Grenzen“ bestätigt, dass in den sozialen Medien in Südkorea, Argentinien, Spanien, Frankreich, Italien, Deutschland, den USA, Mexiko, Japan, Australien und Senegal immer mehr Informationen über „Therianer“ kursieren.
Therianer sind junge Menschen, die sich mit einem nicht-menschlichen Tier identifizieren. Es handelt sich um ein soziales und kulturelles Phänomen, das keine physische Transformation oder den Glauben an einen anderen Körper beinhaltet, sondern vielmehr eine innere Erfahrung aus psychologischer oder moralischer Sicht. Der Begriff stammt vom englischen Wort „Therianthropie“, das wiederum von den altgriechischen Wörtern „therion“ (Tier, Wildtier) und „anthropos“
(Mensch) abgeleitet ist. In Buenos Aires, Madrid, Mexiko-Stadt und New York fanden bereits öffentliche Treffen statt. Ein junger Mann, der sich als Pferd identifiziert, brachte sogar einen Vorschlag im Kongress von Nuevo León ein, um Mobbing gegen diese Gemeinschaft zu verhindern.

Objetivamente los therians son personas jóvenes que se identifican con un animal no humano. Se trata de un fenómeno social y cultural que no implica una transformación física ni la creencia de poseer un cuerpo distinto, sino una vivencia interna desde el plano psicológico o moral. El término proviene del inglés therianthropy, que a su vez deriva del griego antiguo therion —que quiere decir bestia o animal salvaje— y ánthropos —humano—.
Han hecho reuniones abiertas en Buenos Aires, Madrid, Ciudad de México y Nueva York. Incluso un joven que se identifica como caballo presentó una iniciativa en el Congreso de Nuevo León para prevenir el "bullying" contra esta comunidad.
