Iran will completely close the Strait of Hormuz if Trump attacks Iranian power plants.
In a statement released by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and obtained by the International Consortium of Journalists JMH, Iran declared it will completely close the Strait of Hormuz in response to President Donald Trump, who gave Iran 48 hours to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to navigation or face the destruction of its energy infrastructure.
The IRGC stated that companies with US shares would be "completely destroyed" if Washington attacks Iranian energy facilities, and asserted that energy facilities in countries hosting US bases would be "legitimate" targets, alluding to countries such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
"We did not start the war and we will not start it now, but if the enemy damages our power plants, we will do everything possible to defend the country and the interests of our people," the statement read. Iran has decreed the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20 percent of all global seaborne crude oil, 20 percent of all LNG shipments, and a third of the most widely used fertilizer pass. As a result, prices have skyrocketed, and countries as far away as Spain and India are feeling the consequences.
Consumers in the United States are also feeling the effects of the Hormuz closure.

Irán cerrará completamente el estrecho de Ormuz si Trump ataca las centrales eléctricas iraníes.
Mediante un comunicado del Cuerpo de la Guardia Revolucionaria Islámica de Irán (CGRI) al que ha accedido el Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH; Irán manifestó que cerrará completamente Ormuz en respuesta al presidente Donald Trump, que concedió a Irán 48 horas para reabrir el estrecho de Ormuz a la navegación o enfrentar la destrucción de su infraestructura energética.
El CGRI declaró que las empresas con acciones estadounidenses serían "completamente destruidas" si Washington ataca las instalaciones energéticas iraníes, y afirmó que las instalaciones energéticas en países que albergan bases estadounidenses serían objetivos "legítimos", en alusión a países tales como Qatar, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Omán y Arabia Saudita.
"Nosotros no iniciamos la guerra y no la iniciaremos ahora, pero si el enemigo daña nuestras centrales eléctricas, haremos todo lo posible para defender el país y los intereses de nuestro pueblo", reza el comunicado.
Irán ha decretado el cierre efectivo del estrecho de Ormuz por donde transita el 20 por ciento de todo el petróleo crudo transportado por mar a nivel mundial y el 20 por ciento de todos los envíos de GNL y un tercio del fertilizante más utilizado. De ese modo los precios se han disparado y países tan distantes como España o la India están pagando las consecuencias.
Los propios consumidores de Estados Unidos también están sintiendo el rigor del cierre de Ormuz.
