El bullying constante a Josiah:
De acuerdo con la información brindada por su familia a BSF, el adolescente habría tomado la decisión después de sufrir burlas constantes en la escuela y durante el trayecto en autobús escolar.
Las autoridades locales confirmaron el incidente y señalaron que el caso es investigado por la policía estatal.
Josiah tenía 13 años y vivía en Alstead, una pequeña comunidad del estado de New Hampshire. Según relató su familia, el adolescente fue adoptado por su abuela después de que su madre, Amber (Lyon) Dwinell, muriera en enero de 2021.
Desde entonces, la abuela del menor —a quien Josiah llamaba “Mimi”— asumió su cuidado.
Su tía, Shaena Stebbins, explicó a BSF que la familia intentó apoyarlo mientras atravesaba problemas emocionales derivados tanto del duelo por su madre como de situaciones de acoso escolar.

El 12 de marzo, Josiah regresaba a casa en autobús después de clases. Según explicó su tía, el menor decidió saltar desde un puente hacia el río Cold, cuyas aguas estaban heladas.
Tras un viaje en autobús de vuelta a casa, mi sobrino decidió que ya no podía soportar el acoso y que la única manera de detenerlo era saltar de un puente a aguas heladas”, escribió Stebbins.
El adolescente no sabía nadar. Había cumplido 13 años apenas ocho días antes.
¿Qué dijeron las autoridades?
En un comunicado oficial, las autoridades señalaron: “Personal de varias agencias respondió y trabajó conjuntamente con los bomberos, los servicios de ambulancia y la policía de Alstead”.
La investigación quedó a cargo de la Policía Estatal de New Hampshire, que no ha ofrecido más detalles sobre el caso.

According to his aunt, he decided to jump from a bridge into the icy waters of the Cold River. “After a bus ride home, my nephew decided he could no longer endure the bullying and that the only way to stop it was to jump off a bridge into icy water,” Stebbins wrote. The teenager couldn’t swim. He had turned 13 just eight days earlier.

In an official statement, authorities said: “Personnel from multiple agencies responded and worked together with firefighters, ambulance services, and the Alstead Police Department.” The investigation is being handled by the New Hampshire State Police, who have not released any further details about the case.
