The International Consortium of Journalists JMH confirms that Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old mechanical engineer (Caltech), will appear before the Federal Court in Washington, D.C., in a few minutes. He is accused of opening fire at the Washington Hilton Hotel during the White House Reporters' Dinner. The shooter will face criminal charges for threatening the lives of President Donald Trump, members of his administration, and Secret Service agents, one of whom was wounded by gunfire.

Security measures were adequate: The Trump Administration has insisted that security measures for the dinner were sufficient and executed flawlessly. Allen is accused of opening fire before being apprehended by police and federal agents seconds after breaching the perimeter and before reaching the floor where the dinner was being held. However, the incident raised further questions about whether the annual event itself was vulnerable from the outset: it was held in a massive hotel that was still partially open to the public and invited guests.
By simply making a reservation at the Hilton Washington, Cole Thomas Allen was able to enter with weapons and attempt to carry out an attack.

Cole Tomas Allen, aparece corriendo en un video de seguridad, más allá de los detectores de metales en el Washington Hilton antes de que las fuerzas del orden lo redujeran rápidamente.

La Administración Trump ha insistido en que las medidas de seguridad para la cena fueron suficientes y se ejecutaron a la perfección. Allen está acusado de abrir fuego antes de ser detenido por la policía y agentes federales segundos después de traspasar el perímetro y antes de llegar al piso donde se celebraba la cena. Sin embargo, el suceso planteó nuevas dudas sobre si el evento anual en sí mismo era vulnerable desde el principio: se celebraba en un enorme hotel que aún estaba parcialmente abierto al público y a los invitados.

pudo entrar con armas e intentar perpetrar un atentado.
