1) Caltech engineer Colen Tomas Allen was able to pass through security at the Washington Hilton Hotel during the White House Reporters' Dinner because he was a registered guest at the Washington Hilton.
2) President Donald Trump was unharmed in the attack.
3) Investigating authorities said Allen passed through the security checkpoint and ran toward a secure area before firing shots that were immediately returned fire by Secret Service personnel.
4) A Secret Service agent was wounded but survived thanks to his body armor.
5) Allen had brought a shotgun, a handgun, and at least three knives with him.
6) Allen had traveled across the country by train to avoid raising suspicion.

reported that the suspect faces two counts of firearms offenses and one count of assault on a federal agent with a dangerous weapon.

After the attack at the Washington Hilton, Torrance police arrived,
cleared the street, and cordoned off part of the roadway.
FBI agents also arrived at the scene.
11) The motive for the attack is still unclear.
Law enforcement and judicial authorities do not yet have a
cause of action as to why Allen carried out the attack and whom
he intended to injure or kill.
12) President Donald Trump described Allen as a "lone wolf" and mentally unstable.
13) Authorities said they were searching locations linked to him in California
and examining his social media accounts.
