The victim of the fatal stabbing in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona, as she left her home, was Chinese. She had arrived in Spain a year ago and was a partner in the restaurant she was heading to when the assailant attacked her with a large knife.

The victim of the fatal stabbing in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona, as she left her home, was Chinese. She had arrived in Spain a year ago and was a partner in the restaurant she was heading to when the assailant attacked her with a large knife.
Friends she had made in Barcelona told the JMH International Consortium of Journalists that she was a 42-year-old woman, although she looked much younger, pleasant and friendly, and had no relatives in Spain.
An impromptu memorial has been erected on Joan Miró Street, where the murder took place, in honor of the deceased woman.
The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) deny that the Esplugues crime was a terrorist attack and suggest a psychotic episode in the assailant, who may have chosen the victim at random.
