Sources linked to the Seville Education Inspectorate confirmed to the World Organization Bullying Without Borders that today they will present a report from the Education Inspectorate, prepared a few days after the suicide of Sandra Peña, which found that the 14-year-old girl's private subsidized school was the victim of a possible case of bullying and that the school had not taken adequate measures to address the situation she was experiencing.

SEVILLE. May 19. World Organization Bullying Without Borders

The inspectors believe that the anti-bullying protocol should have been activated.

The judge presiding over the case brought by Sandra's parents against the school stated in his ruling that the school did take protective measures after meeting with the family in September 2025, such as separating the alleged bullies and providing psycho-educational support. He also noted the lack of a causal link between the school's actions and the suicide, which occurred off school premises. Following the prosecutor's recommendation, he ordered the case dismissed.

INFORMES ANTERIORES:

SEVILLA.

The head of the Court of Instruction number 7 of Seville has rejected the lawsuit filed by the parents of Sandra Peña, the 14-year-old girl who committed suicide, against the Irish Sisters of Loreto private school.

SEVILLE. May 14, 2026. World Organization Against Bullying Without Borders

The head of the Court of Instruction number 7 of Seville has rejected the lawsuit filed by the parents of Sandra Peña, the 14-year-old girl who committed suicide, against the Irish Sisters of Loreto private school. In his ruling, the judge maintains that the school and its administrators "took measures to combat the bullying," but that they were not required to "control the minor at all times to prevent her from taking her own life," considering that Sandra committed suicide at home and outside of school hours.

According to the judge, "the bullying protocol is undoubtedly effective, but this does not mean that, had it been adopted, it would have hindered the minor's will to make the decision she made."

The Public Prosecutor's Office for Minors indicates that the school became aware of a possible bullying situation on September 1, 2025, when Sandra's mother gave the school administration a report issued by the psychologist who had treated her during the summer. The report "included the minor's statements regarding teasing and derogatory comments from a group of classmates and self-harm" by the girl, who was suffering from "an anxious-depressive psychological condition that was significantly affecting her quality of life."

"The judge presiding over the lawsuit filed by Sandra Peña's parents against the Irish School of Loreto has decided to dismiss the case, and the death of the 14-year-old girl, which occurred on October 14, 2025, will go unpunished. The parents, and indeed the entire city of Seville, because the situation was common knowledge, accused the school where the teenager studied of failing to activate the anti-bullying protocol, despite having informed the administration that their daughter was being bullied by three classmates. They had even submitted a psychological report on Sandra, paid for by the girl's parents, which documented a situation of anxiety and depression with self-harm. Self-harm is a warning sign that, in general, adolescents exhibit before suicide. However, the judge followed the recommendation of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office; both requested the dismissal of the case against the Irish School of Loreto. Bullying Without Borders knows all about tragedies, injustices, and impunity." That's why it exists; to denounce them. I'm so sorry, Sandra's parents. I'm so sorry, Sevilla. There will be no justice for Sandra Peña," said Dr. Javier Miglino Helfenstein, Human Rights and Child Protection Expert and Global Director of Bullying Without Borders.
