Hay preocupación en Argentina porque tres personas que zarparon desde el puerto de Usuahía en el crucero MV Hondius y que visita el extremo sur del planeta; han fallecido de hantavirus.

There is concern in Argentina because three people who departed from the port of Ushuaia on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which is visiting the southern tip of the planet, have died from hantavirus.
Hay al menos 10 casos más a bordo o en hospitales de Sudáfrica, donde el crucero ha llegado en busca de ayuda sanitaria. Los fallecidos son dos personas de Países Bajos y un ciudadano británico. El crucecro con capacidad para 170 pasajeros y una tripulación de unos 70 miembros, está bajo alerta por hantavirus decretado por la Organización Mundial de la Salud.
Gene Hackman y su esposa murieron por hantavirus:
En California la estrella de cine, Gene Hackman y su esposa murieron por hantavirus, una grave enfermedad que se transmite por ratones de gran tamaño, en general denominados 'colilargos'. El contacto con la orina, heces y saliva, puede ocasionar una enfermedad mortal.
“Aunque sea raro, el hantavirus puede transmitirse de una persona a otra y provocar enfermedades respiratorias graves”, indicó la OMS.
“Se están realizando investigaciones en profundidad, sobre todo análisis de laboratorio adicionales e investigaciones epidemiológicas. Los pasajeros y la tribulación están recibiendo atención médica. También se está llevando a cabo la secuenciación del virus”, completó la Organización Mundial de la Salud.

There are at least 10 more cases on board or in hospitals in South Africa, where the cruise ship has arrived seeking medical assistance. The deceased are two people from the Netherlands and a British citizen. The cruise ship, with a capacity for 170 passengers and a crew of about 70, is under a hantavirus alert issued by the World Health Organization.
Gene Hackman and his wife died from hantavirus:
In California, film star Gene Hackman and his wife died from hantavirus, a serious disease transmitted by large mice, generally known as 'long-tailed mice'. Contact with their urine, feces, and saliva can cause a fatal illness. “Although rare, hantavirus can be transmitted from person to person and cause severe respiratory illness,” the WHO stated.
“In-depth investigations are underway, including further laboratory analysis and epidemiological inquiries. Passengers and crew members are receiving medical attention. Virus sequencing is also being carried out,” the World Health Organization added.
