El presidente de Maldivas, Mohamed Muizzu, viajó el sábado al atolón de Vaavu para observar las operaciones de búsqueda.
Una operación de alto riesgo:
Fuentes ligadas al Ejército de Maldivas, confirmaron al Consorcio JMH que la operación es de muy alto riesgo, ya que los equipos se enfrentan a condiciones meteorológicas adversas.

The JMH International Consortium of Journalists, present in Malé, confirms that the terrible tragedy of the five Italians who died during a diving excursion in the caves of the Vaavu Atoll is not over. Sergeant Mohamed Mahdhhe, a rescue diver, died while searching for the bodies.
The President of the Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu, traveled to the Vaavu Atoll on Saturday to observe the search operations.
A high-risk operation:
Sources linked to the Maldivian military confirmed to the JMH Consortium that the operation is extremely high-risk, as the teams are facing adverse weather conditions.
Government spokesman Mohamed Hussain Shareef stated that recreational divers are only permitted to dive to a depth of 30 meters and that it is unclear why the Italians entered a cave located 60 meters deep. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that 20 other Italian citizens aboard the Duke of York yacht, from which the five divers departed, were unharmed and received assistance from the Italian Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Panic: Because the exit was nowhere to be seen, panic erupted within seconds.
Gas mixture: An accident involving the divers' oxygen cylinders is not being ruled out.
Oxygen toxicity: In a moment of panic, the body demands a large amount of air to breathe, a phenomenon known as hyperventilation. Doing so with oxygen pumped from cylinders at a depth of approximately 60 meters can trigger collapse.

How did the tragedy occur?
The group had boarded the Duke of York yacht, a liveaboard vessel designed for tourists specializing in diving. The disappearance occurred near Alimatha, an area known for its caverns and steep drop-offs. After the alert, the Coast Guard deployed fast boats and aircraft to begin the search.
