Argentina is witnessing the conclusion of the trial regarding the gang rape of Enerina, a young woman who was 17 at the time of the incident. Although she was raped by ten young men—friends from her own town—at her country house in Médanos, Bahía Blanca, she only found the courage to report it in 2021.
The rapists were friends of the victim:
Enerina knew all of her sexual assailants. The level of trust was such that they would come to her home to drink *mate* and even have dinner with her family. Nothing led her to believe they would be capable of harming her.
Seven of the defendants were over the age of 18 at the time of the alleged rape. Consequently, they are being tried in the same proceedings, which began on June 19 and concluded six days later.
On Wednesday, June 24, prosecutor Marcelo Romero Jardín requested a 10-year prison sentence for them, charging them—in the alternative—as functional co-perpetrators of "aggravated sexual abuse involving gross indignity."
Enerina left her town due to the distress:
Enerina is 26 years old and moved to Córdoba to study law, overwhelmed by town gossip and pressure from the families and friends of the accused.
"To everyone, I was the town's rape victim," she lamented.
The defendants standing trial are: Alan Kevin Ábalos (26), Franco Fabián Apis (28), Erik Dalla Riva (27), Kevin Dalla Riva (29), Fernando Herrera (27), Alexis Gaspar Roa (28), and Enzo Gustavo Torres (27).
The other trial, involving three additional accused individuals who were minors:
Following this trial, the other three will be tried by a judge within the Juvenile Criminal Responsibility system.
What happened? "All ten of them locked me in a room with the lights off; all ten pulled down their pants. They only let me go when I screamed that I was being raped and one of them said, 'Let her go.' They all hid my clothes; they all pulled down their pants. They all kept the door shut—even though my friend was asking them to open it and I was begging to be released—and they all came inside," Enerina described to the JMH International Consortium of Journalists.
This Tuesday, June 30, the Bahía Blanca Oral Criminal Court No. 1 will announce its decision.

Si bien fue violada por 10 jóvenes que eran sus propios amigos del pueblo en su casaquinta de Médanos, Bahía Blanca, recién tuvo valor de denunciarlo en el año 2021.
Los violadores eran amigos de la víctima:
Enerina conocía a todos sus agresores sexuales. La confianza era tanta que iban a tomar mate a su casa y hasta a cenar con su familia. Nada le hizo pensar que serían capaces de hacerle daño.
Siete de los imputados eran mayores de 18 años al momento de la violación denunciada. Por eso, son juzgados en el mismo debate que empezó el 19 de junio y que terminó seis días después.
Este miércoles 24 de junio, el fiscal Marcelo Romero Jardín pidió para ellos 10 años de pena y, como acusación subsidiaria, la coautoría funcional de "abuso sexual gravemente ultrajante".
Enerina se fue de su pueblo por la angustia:
Enerina tiene 26 años y se mudó a Córdoba para estudiar Derecho, agobiada por los comentarios en el pueblo y las presiones de familiares y amigos de los denunciados.
"Para todos yo era la violada del pueblo", lamentó.
Los procesados en juicio son: Alan Kevin Ábalos (26), Franco Fabián Apis (28), Erik Dalla Riva (27), Kevin Dalla Riva (29), Fernando Herrera (27), Alexis Gaspar Roa (28) y Enzo Gustavo Torres (27).
El otro juicio, con tres acusados más, que eran menores:
Luego de este juicio, los otros tres serán juzgados por un juez del fuero de Responsabilidad Penal Juvenil.
¿Cómo fue el hecho?
"A mí me encerraron los 10 en una habitación con la luz apagada, los 10 se bajaron los pantalones, me soltaron recién cuando yo grité que me estaban violando y uno de ellos dijo 'soltala'. Todos me escondieron la ropa, todos se bajaron los pantalones. Todos mantuvieron la puerta cerrada aunque mi amiga pedía que abrieran y yo que me soltaran, todos entraron", describió Enerina al Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH.
Este martes 30 de junio, el Tribunal Oral en lo Criminal N° 1 de Bahía Blanca dará a conocer su decisión.
