Con enorme pesar debemos anunciar la muerte de Miguel Zavaleta, la voz, el rostro y el espíritu irreverente de Suéter, la banda que nació en los ’80 y aún sigue vigente. Miguel murió a los 71 años después de atravesar una larga enfermedad.

Miguel era un tipo divertido y honesto y con un gran sentimiento de solidaridad con los artistas. Por ese motivo visitó varias veces el Artists Hub Buenos Aires, para brindar su apoyo y para contar sus historias.
Miguel Zavaleta había nacido en febrero de 1955 y desde muy joven encontró en la música el territorio donde podía expresarse. Antes de convertirse en el líder de Suéter formó parte de Bubu, una experiencia vinculada al circuito under de finales de los años setenta y comienzos de los ochenta que combinaba música, teatralidad y una búsqueda artística alejada de los formatos convencionales, junto a Fabiana Cantilo y los que después serían Los Twist y pre-Abuelos de la Nada.
Los laboratorios del rock nacional:
Esa etapa fue como un laboratorio en el que comenzó a construir una personalidad artística que después encontraría en Suéter su forma más reconocible.
En 1981 y en plena dictadura militar, llegó Suéter; entre restricciones, censura y una necesidad cada vez más urgente de encontrar nuevas formas de expresión. Zavaleta asumió el liderazgo del grupo como cantante y tecladista y compartió aquella primera formación con Gustavo Donés en bajo, Juan del Barrio en teclados y Jorge Minissale en guitarra.
El primer trabajo fue para el olvido, pero el segundo, Lluvia de gallinas, en 1982, fue un éxito abrumador con “Amanece en la ruta”, una canción que aún suena con fuerza en las radios porteñas.
Suéter apareció junto a extraordinarias bandas como Los Abuelos de la Nada, Los Twist, Virus, Los Redondos, Zas y el único supergrupo de la historia del Rock Argentino: Soda Stereo.
Otros éxitos de Miguel y de Suéter fueron: “Vía México”, “El anda diciendo” y “Extraño ser”; este último aún continúa siendo reversionado de forma brillante.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Miguel Zavaleta, the voice, face and irreverent spirit of Suéter, the band that emerged in the 1980s and remains relevant to this day. Miguel died at the age of 71 after a long illness.
Miguel was a funny and honest man with a deep sense of solidarity toward fellow artists. For that reason, he visited Artists Hub Buenos Aires several times, offering his support and sharing his stories.
Miguel Zavaleta was born in February 1955 and, from a very young age, found in music the territory where he could express himself. Before becoming the leader of Suéter, he was part of Bubu, an experience connected to the underground scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s that combined music, theatricality and an artistic search far removed from conventional formats. He worked alongside Fabiana Cantilo and musicians who would later become members of Los Twist and the pre-Abuelos de la Nada scene.
The laboratories of Argentine rock:
That period was a kind of laboratory in which he began to develop an artistic personality that would later find its most recognizable form in Suéter.
In 1981, at the height of Argentina’s military dictatorship, Suéter emerged amid restrictions, censorship and an increasingly urgent need to find new forms of expression. Zavaleta took leadership of the group as lead singer and keyboardist and shared the original lineup with Gustavo Donés on bass, Juan del Barrio on keyboards and Jorge Minissale on guitar.
The first album was largely forgettable, but the second, Lluvia de gallinas, released in 1982, was an overwhelming success, featuring “Amanece en la ruta,” a song that can still be heard prominently on Buenos Aires radio stations.
Suéter appeared alongside extraordinary bands such as Los Abuelos de la Nada, Los Twist, Virus, Los Redondos, Zas and the only supergroup in the history of Argentine Rock: Soda Stereo.
