News anchor Dominique Dillon of Fox 13 in Memphis, Tennessee, fell asleep during a live broadcast of the morning program Good Morning Memphis, in an incident that quickly went viral and drew widespread attention across U.S. media and social platforms.
Following the broadcast, Dillon said she regained awareness just as the program switched camera angles and described the experience as deeply embarrassing.
"I opened my eyes just as they changed the shot and thought, 'Oh my God, I can't believe this happened.' I was completely mortified. I was even pinching myself under the desk, thinking it had to be a nightmare," Dillon told the International Consortium of Journalists JMH.
Dillon, the mother of two daughters aged two years and eight months, said the incident was the result of accumulated fatigue caused by the demands of balancing her broadcasting career, family responsibilities and constant activity on social media, all of which have significantly reduced her daily sleep.

en un episodio que rápidamente se viralizó y generó repercusiones en medios y redes sociales de Estados Unidos.
Tras el incidente, Dillon explicó que recuperó la conciencia justo cuando la emisión cambiaba de plano y describió el momento como profundamente embarazoso.
"Abrí los ojos justo cuando cambiaban de plano y pensé: 'Dios mío, no puedo creer que esto me haya pasado'. Me sentí completamente mortificada. Incluso me pellizcaba debajo de la mesa pensando que debía tratarse de una pesadilla", señaló la periodista al Consorcio Internacional de Periodistas JMH.
Dillon, madre de dos niñas de dos años y de ocho meses, atribuyó el episodio al agotamiento acumulado por las exigencias de su actividad profesional y de su vida familiar, además del tiempo que dedica diariamente a las redes sociales, factores que, según explicó, reducen significativamente sus horas de descanso.
