Karla Robles was a 24-year-old woman from Tucumán province, about 1,100 kilometers from Buenos Aires. She worked as an influencer for cosmetics brands and shared content on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
According to information published by Bullying Without Borders, Karla was experiencing cyberbullying that reportedly contributed to her death. One week before she was found dead, she had written on social media: “I would rather kill myself than let him kill me.”
The case has once again highlighted the impact that online harassment can have. Dr. Javier Miglino Helfenstein, one of the pioneers in the study of online harassment, has described cyberbullying as “a silent killer.”
Below are ten cases included in the work of Bullying Without Borders involving victims of bullying and cyberbullying.
1. ANA LUIZA DE OLIVEIRA NEVES — 17
SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL
Ana Luiza de Oliveira Neves, 17, died after consuming a cake that, according to the investigation cited in the report, had been sent by another teenager who had allegedly harassed her through Instagram.
The gift carried a note reading: “A gift for the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.”
Ana became ill after eating the cake and was taken to hospital. She initially received treatment and was discharged, but her condition worsened the following day and she died.
The other teenager, also 17, reportedly confessed to sending the cake and was placed in the custody of Fundação Casa pending a judicial decision.
The case caused widespread shock because a relationship of trust and social media were allegedly used as part of the harassment.
2. LARA TOLOSA — 15
LA PLATA, BUENOS AIRES PROVINCE, ARGENTINA
Lara Tolosa, 15, attended National Normal School No. 1 in La Plata, under the National University of La Plata.
According to the report, she had endured repeated bullying for approximately two years.
Her case was included in the Bullying Without Borders records as another example of the consequences of prolonged harassment when a victim does not receive sufficient support and protection within the school environment.
3. EMA SÁNCHEZ — 15
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Ema Sánchez was a victim of cyberbullying after an intimate video of her was recorded and distributed without her consent among classmates during school hours.
According to the account included in the report, school authorities initially minimized the incident and limited their response to reprimanding those responsible, without providing the victim with adequate support.
Ema's mother later recalled a conversation with her daughter and expressed deep regret over having initially responded from the fear and concern of a parent.
The case illustrates how the non-consensual distribution of intimate material can have a devastating impact on a teenager and why adults need to respond quickly, responsibly and protectively.
4. NAZARENO GITALI — 13
BUENOS AIRES PROVINCE, ARGENTINA
Nazareno Gitali, known as “Naza”, was 13 and attended a secondary school in Buenos Aires province.
According to his family, he experienced prolonged mocking, physical aggression and harassment by classmates. Adults at the school sometimes interpreted his distress and anger as behavior that appeared “out of nowhere”.
His family says that behind those reactions was a long history of repeated bullying, including physical aggression and hurtful comments.
In March 2024, another teenager allegedly contacted Nazareno through Instagram while pretending to be a girl. According to the family, private material was obtained and later distributed. Classmates began repeating his words at school and elsewhere.
Nazareno died on June 12, 2024, at the age of 13.
For his parents, the distribution of that material was one of the events that intensified a situation of suffering that had already been developing for some time.
5. SOPHIA I. — 17
GRAZ, AUSTRIA
Sophia I.'s case became associated with the tragedy that took place at a school in Graz, Austria, in June 2025.
The attack at BORG Dreierschützengasse left 10 people dead and at least 28 injured, according to the account included in the report. The attacker, aged 21, had previously attended the school and, according to information cited by Bullying Without Borders, had experienced bullying during his school years.
The tragedy caused national shock. Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker declared three days of national mourning and called it “a dark day in the history of our country.”
About 300 police officers took part in the emergency response, while helicopters and medical teams assisted victims.
Bullying Without Borders attributed the following statement to Chancellor Stocker:
“This incomprehensible act suddenly took young people away from the lives they still had ahead of them. What happened today affects all of us: as people, as parents and as a society. A school is a place of trust, safety and hope.”
6. URIEL LARRAGUETA — 19
BURZACO, BUENOS AIRES PROVINCE, ARGENTINA
Uriel Larragueta was 19 and a rugby player at San Albano Club in Burzaco, where he was captain of the M19 team.
He died in 2025. According to information published by Bullying Without Borders, his family and the organization linked his death to alleged cyberbullying through Instagram and Facebook.
The investigation was handled by Functional Investigation and Trial Unit No. 2 (UFIJ No. 2).
San Albano Club publicly expressed its grief and support for Uriel's family, friends and teammates.
7. ADAM RAINE
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES
Adam Raine died in August 2025. According to information provided by Bullying Without Borders, his family subsequently filed a complaint before the Superior Court of California in San Francisco concerning conversations the teenager had with an artificial-intelligence chatbot.
The complaint alleges that the system responded inadequately to serious warning signs and failed to interrupt certain conversations or activate protective mechanisms.
Following a judicial request, Bullying Without Borders reported that it obtained access to reproductions of conversations between Adam and the chatbot.
The case has fueled an international debate about artificial intelligence, child protection and the responsibility of platforms when a teenager shows clear signs of extreme vulnerability.
Dr. Javier Miglino, World Director of Bullying Without Borders, said the organization would provide legal support to the family and warned about the risks that AI systems may pose when they fail to respond appropriately to crisis situations.
8. SEWELL SETZER — 14
MIAMI, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES
Sewell Setzer was 14 and lived in Florida. His mother, Megan García, told Bullying Without Borders about the profound impact her son's death had on the entire family.
The case is connected to a pending involuntary manslaughter lawsuit.
According to information released by the family and included in the report, Sewell had developed an intense relationship with an artificial-intelligence character based on Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones.
The conversations between the teenager and the chatbot have become part of the legal and public debate over how some artificial-intelligence systems can establish emotional relationships with minors.
The family argues that the chatbot interaction played a significant role in Sewell's deterioration and questions whether sufficient safeguards existed to recognize and respond to warning signs.
The case has become one of the best-known examples in the debate over artificial intelligence, minors and emotional safety.

1. ANA LUIZA DE OLIVEIRA NEVES — 17 AÑOS
SAN PABLO, BRASIL
Ana Luiza de Oliveira Neves, de 17 años, murió después de ingerir un pastel que, según la investigación citada en el informe, había sido enviado por otra adolescente que la acosaba a través de Instagram.
El obsequio llevaba una nota que decía: “Un regalo para la chica más hermosa que vi jamás”.
Tras comer el pastel, Ana comenzó a sentirse mal y fue trasladada a un hospital. Inicialmente recibió tratamiento y fue dada de alta, pero al día siguiente su estado empeoró y murió.
La adolescente señalada como responsable, también de 17 años, habría confesado haber enviado el pastel y quedó bajo custodia de la Fundación Casa a la espera de una resolución judicial.
El caso generó conmoción por la utilización de una relación de confianza y de las redes sociales como parte de una situación de acoso.
2. LARA TOLOSA — 15 AÑOS
LA PLATA, PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Lara Tolosa, de 15 años, estudiaba en el Colegio Normal Nacional N.º 1 de La Plata, dependiente de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata.
Según el informe, durante aproximadamente dos años había soportado situaciones reiteradas de bullying.
Su caso quedó incorporado a los registros de Bullying Sin Fronteras como otro ejemplo de las consecuencias que puede tener un acoso sostenido cuando la víctima no encuentra suficiente apoyo y protección dentro de su entorno escolar.
3. EMA SÁNCHEZ — 15 AÑOS
BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Ema Sánchez fue víctima de ciberbullying después de que un video íntimo suyo fuera grabado y difundido sin su consentimiento entre compañeros durante el horario escolar.
Según el relato incorporado al informe, las autoridades de la institución minimizaron inicialmente lo ocurrido y se limitaron a llamar la atención a los responsables, sin ofrecer a la víctima la contención que necesitaba.
La madre de Ema recordó posteriormente una conversación que mantuvo con su hija y expresó su profundo pesar por haber interpretado la situación desde la preocupación y el miedo propios de una madre.
El caso muestra cómo la difusión no consentida de material íntimo puede convertirse en una experiencia devastadora para un adolescente y la importancia de una respuesta adulta rápida, responsable y protectora.
4. NAZARENO GITALI — 13 AÑOS
PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Nazareno Gitali, conocido como “Naza”, tenía 13 años y asistía a una escuela secundaria de la provincia de Buenos Aires.
Según el testimonio de su familia, durante un largo período sufrió burlas, agresiones físicas y hostigamiento por parte de compañeros. Sus reacciones de angustia y enojo eran interpretadas en ocasiones por adultos de la institución como comportamientos que aparecían “de la nada”.
La familia sostiene que detrás de esas reacciones existía una historia de acoso reiterado, con golpes, empujones, patadas y frases hirientes.
En marzo de 2024, un adolescente habría contactado a Nazareno a través de Instagram haciéndose pasar por una chica. Según la familia, obtuvo de él material privado que posteriormente fue difundido. Sus compañeros comenzaron a repetir en la escuela y en otros espacios las palabras que había pronunciado.
Nazareno murió el 12 de junio de 2024, a los 13 años.
Para sus padres, la difusión de aquel material fue uno de los acontecimientos que agravaron una situación de sufrimiento que ya llevaba tiempo desarrollándose.
5. SOPHIA I. — 17 AÑOS
GRAZ, AUSTRIA
El caso de Sophia I. quedó asociado a la tragedia ocurrida en una escuela de Graz, Austria, durante junio de 2025.
El ataque contra el instituto BORG Dreierschützengasse dejó 10 personas muertas y al menos 28 heridas, según el relato incluido en el informe. El atacante, de 21 años, había sido alumno del establecimiento y, de acuerdo con las informaciones citadas por Bullying Sin Fronteras, había sufrido bullying durante su etapa escolar.
La tragedia provocó una enorme conmoción nacional. El canciller austríaco Christian Stocker declaró tres días de luto y calificó la jornada como “un día oscuro en la historia de nuestro país”.
Unos 300 agentes policiales participaron en el operativo de emergencia, mientras helicópteros y equipos médicos colaboraron en la atención de las víctimas.
Bullying Sin Fronteras atribuyó al canciller Stocker la siguiente declaración:
“Este acto incomprensible arrancó de repente a unos jóvenes de la vida que aún tenían por delante. Lo que ocurrió hoy nos afecta a todos: como personas, como padres y como sociedad. Una escuela es un lugar de confianza, seguridad y esperanza”.
6. URIEL LARRAGUETA — 19 AÑOS
BURZACO, PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
Uriel Larragueta tenía 19 años y era jugador de rugby del club San Albano de Burzaco, donde se desempeñaba como capitán de la categoría M19.
Murió durante 2025. Según la información difundida por Bullying Sin Fronteras, su familia y la organización relacionaron su muerte con una situación de ciberbullying que habría sufrido a través de Instagram y Facebook.
La investigación quedó a cargo de la Unidad Funcional de Instrucción y Juicio (UFIJ) N.º 2.
El club San Albano expresó públicamente su dolor y acompañamiento a la familia, amigos y compañeros de Uriel.
7. ADAM RAINE
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, ESTADOS UNIDOS
Adam Raine murió en agosto de 2025. Posteriormente, según la información proporcionada por Bullying Sin Fronteras, sus familiares presentaron una denuncia ante el Tribunal Superior de California en San Francisco relacionada con las conversaciones que el adolescente había mantenido con un chatbot de inteligencia artificial.
La denuncia sostiene que el sistema habría respondido de manera inadecuada ante señales de grave riesgo y que no habría interrumpido determinadas conversaciones ni activado mecanismos de protección.
Tras un planteo judicial, Bullying Sin Fronteras informó que pudo acceder a reproducciones de las conversaciones mantenidas entre Adam y el chatbot.
