アパートからの立ち退きをめぐり追い詰められていたとされる35歳のカールトン・ニール・ジョンソンが、ミネアポリス中心部のイースト・グラント・ストリート15番地で、凄惨な銃撃事件を起こした。警察がJMHコンソーシアムに明らかにしたところによると、これまでに3人が死亡し、5人が重体となって病院で治療を受けている。
銃撃の容疑者とされるカールトン・ニール・ジョンソンは、当局によると自殺したとみられている。

Carlton Neal Johnson, 35, a man reportedly desperate after being evicted from his apartment, unleashed a terrible shooting at 15 East Grant Street in downtown Minneapolis. Three people have died so far and five others are in critical condition in hospital, according to police, who informed the JMH Consortium.
Carlton Neal Johnson, the suspected gunman, is reported to have died in what authorities have described as a suicide.
Officers “encountered a haze that considerably limited visibility” when they reached one of the upper floors, Parten said. Three officers were injured; one was undergoing surgery on Wednesday night. Another officer was shot in the leg, while a third was being evaluated for an injury that was not considered life-threatening.
Four other people were taken to a nearby hospital, where one of them died, Parten said.
Eviction as a possible trigger for the desperate crime
Although authorities do not yet know the motive for the shooting, several sources confirmed to the JMH Consortium that the suspect had been evicted from his apartment earlier that same Wednesday.
