BILBAO, Septiembre 15 de 2026 - Organización Mundial Bullying Sin Fronteras
Dos menores de 17 años murieron por suicidio en Bizkaia en un intervalo de apenas 72 horas, una sucesión de fallecimientos que volvió a poner en el centro del debate la prevención del suicidio entre adolescentes.
El primer caso fue el 7 de septiembre y el segundo se produjo el jueves 10 de septiembre en el barrio bilbaíno de San Ignacio. La información fue confirmada por Cadena SER Euskadi, después de que inicialmente la Ertzaintza investigara ambos fallecimientos como posibles suicidios.
En el colegio relacionado con el segundo fallecimiento se suspendieron las clases y se activaron protocolos de acompañamiento y asistencia psicológica para la comunidad educativa.
Las autoridades y organizaciones especializadas han insistido en que la coincidencia temporal de los dos casos no permite establecer por sí misma una causa común ni vincularlos automáticamente con un único factor.
Osakidetza informó a Bullying Sin Fronteras que desde 2022 su Código de Intento de Suicidio Reciente (CISR) permitió identificar de manera temprana y ofrecer seguimiento especializado a cerca de 4.000 personas en situación de vulnerabilidad.
El sistema sanitario vasco también anunció un nuevo curso online específico sobre prevención del suicidio en adolescentes y jóvenes. La formación, prevista para el último trimestre de 2026, estará dirigida a la ciudadanía y especialmente a docentes, profesionales de servicios sociales, agentes comunitarios y personas que trabajan habitualmente con jóvenes.
Más de 2.000 personas se han inscrito desde 2025 en las formaciones del Programa Bizi de Osakidetza.
Al mismo tiempo, el proyecto iSUPERA-A, que ya se aplica en los centros de salud mental de Gipuzkoa, trabaja con adolescentes que han presentado una conducta suicida. El programa combina intervenciones terapéuticas especializadas con seguimiento digital y está estructurado en ocho sesiones.
El Gobierno Vasco confirmó a Bullying Sin Fronteras que estas iniciativas forman parte de la Estrategia de Salud Mental de Euskadi y buscan mejorar la detección temprana, la intervención y el acompañamiento de menores y jóvenes en situación de vulnerabilidad.

Two 17-year-old minors died by suicide in Bizkaia within a period of just 72 hours, a succession of deaths that has once again placed suicide prevention among adolescents at the center of public debate.
The first case occurred on September 7, while the second took place on Thursday, September 10, in the San Ignacio neighborhood of Bilbao. The information was confirmed by Cadena SER Euskadi, after the Ertzaintza initially investigated both deaths as possible suicides.
At the school connected to the second death, classes were suspended and psychological support and assistance protocols were activated for the educational community.
Authorities and specialized organizations have stressed that the close timing of the two cases, by itself, does not establish a common cause or allow them to be automatically linked to a single factor.
Osakidetza informed Bullying Sin Fronteras that since 2022 its Recent Suicide Attempt Code (CISR) has enabled the early identification and specialized follow-up of nearly 4,000 people in vulnerable situations.
The Basque health system has also announced a new online course specifically focused on suicide prevention among adolescents and young people. The training, scheduled for the final quarter of 2026, will be open to the public and will be aimed particularly at teachers, social-service professionals, community workers and people who regularly work with young people.
More than 2,000 people have enrolled since 2025 in training courses offered through Osakidetza's Bizi Program.
At the same time, the iSUPERA-A project, already being implemented in mental health centers in Gipuzkoa, works with adolescents who have exhibited suicidal behavior. The program combines specialized therapeutic interventions with digital follow-up and is structured around eight sessions.
The Basque Government confirmed to Bullying Sin Fronteras that these initiatives are part of the Basque Country's Mental Health Strategy and seek to improve early detection, intervention and support for minors and young people in vulnerable situations.
