The golden rule of Bullying Sin Fronteras in the face of suicide is: prevention, prevention and prevention.

L’HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT, Septiembre 22 — Organización Mundial Bullying Sin Fronteras

As we warned some time ago, according to the WHO’s latest reports, not everyone who dies by suicide has a mental illness, just as not everyone with a mental illness dies by suicide.

Olga was 54 years old, and the despair caused by the eviction from her home drove her to suicide in Barcelona.

Olga, the mother of two teenage daughters, one of whom was a minor, had no way to reverse a situation that had clearly become overwhelming for her.

What happened to Olga?

Olga was 54 and had lived for more than two decades in the Santa Eulàlia neighborhood of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. She died by suicide after being evicted from her home.

Olga had purchased her home with a mortgage from Banco Sabadell. Following a separation and the loss of her job, she began struggling to keep up with the payments.

The woman had reportedly reached an agreement allowing her to remain in the property under a social housing rental arrangement. However, after the property passed into the hands of an investment fund, the terms changed and eviction proceedings began.

With the support of neighborhood organizations, Olga managed to postpone the eviction. Nevertheless, the proceedings resumed, and she ultimately lost her home.

Although suicide is a multifactorial phenomenon, the link between losing one’s home and deteriorating mental health is well established. Housing loss can worsen distress, isolation and uncertainty, especially when combined with financial, family or health difficulties.

The golden rule of Bullying Sin Fronteras in the face of suicide is:

prevention
prevention
and prevention.

Active listening and the early detection of signs of emotional distress can save a life. Mental health requires timely, concrete responses—not empty statements, hollow organizations, or media outlets and journalists co-opted by political power who celebrate an unreal version of suffering and conceal suicide.

L’HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT, 9

L’HOSPITALET DE LLOBREGAT, 22. September — Weltorganisation Bullying Ohne Grenzen

Was geschah mit Olga?
