Mexico continues to be gripped by insecurity. This time, the victim was a 21-year-old Spanish woman, Claudia Tacoronte Aguilera, who was in Mexico as a Spanish exchange student at the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos (UAEM).
The young woman, from the Canary Islands, was killed on Saturday night in a stabbing attack in Cuautla, Morelos, in central Mexico.
The Morelos State Prosecutor’s Office, which is investigating the crime as femicide, had made no arrests at the time this report was written.
The killing has sparked outrage on both sides of the Atlantic. In Spain, Canary Islands President Fernando Clavijo, as well as ministers Diana Morant and Canary Island-born Ángel Víctor Torres, have expressed their sorrow over the killing.
Women and girls reported missing and killed in Mexico:
In February 2026, Kimberly Ramos disappeared while on her way to classes at the University of Morelos campus in Cuernavaca, the state capital. Protests by her fellow students forced the university to suspend classes. Her body was found 10 days later in an industrial area on the outskirts of the city.
In early March, Karol Toledo, a nursing student at the same university, disappeared. Protests returned to UAEM. Her body was found three days later in Coatetelco, a few kilometers from her home in Mazatepec. Both women were 18 years old.
On May 24, 15-year-old Michelle Itzayana Fuentes Calderón left her home in Yautepec to buy poster board. She was a high school student at UAEM and the daughter of a professor at the same university. She disappeared. Her body was found 10 days later in Tepoztlán, the nearby tourist town.
The Consulate General of Spain in Mexico City is closely following Claudia’s case. “It is in contact with the family of the deceased and in constant communication with Mexican judicial authorities, who are working to clarify the circumstances of the incident,” according to sources at Spain’s Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, the University of Granada, where Claudia had studied Early Childhood Education, has called for a minute of silence this Monday at 11 a.m. in memory of its student at the entrances to all its faculties, schools and workplaces.

México continúa en llamas por la inseguridad. Esta vez le tocó a una chica española, Claudia Tacoronte Aguilera, de 21 años, que se encontraba como estudiante española de intercambio en la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM).

Desaparecidas y asesinadas en México:
En febrero de 2026, Kimberly Ramos desapareció cuando se dirigía a sus clases en la Universidad de Morelos, en el campus de Cuernavaca, la capital del estado. Las protestas de sus compañeros obligaron al recinto a suspender las clases. Su cuerpo fue hallado 10 días después en un polígono a las afueras de la ciudad.

El 24 de mayo, Michelle Itzayana Fuentes Calderón, de 15 años, salió de su casa en Yautepec para comprar cartulina. Era alumna de bachillerato de la UAEM e hija de una profesora de la misma universidad. Desapareció. Su cuerpo fue encontrado 10 días después en Tepoztlán, el turístico pueblo vecino.
El Consulado General de España en Ciudad de México sigue de cerca el caso de Claudia. “Está en contacto con la familia de la fallecida y en constante comunicación con las autoridades judiciales mexicanas, que están trabajando para esclarecer las circunstancias de los hechos”, según fuentes del Ministerio de Exteriores español.
Mientras tanto, la Universidad de Granada, donde Claudia había cursado estudios de Educación Infantil, ha convocado este lunes a las 11:00 un minuto de silencio en memoria de su estudiante en la puerta de todas sus facultades, escuelas y centros de trabajo.

メキシコでは、治安の悪化が続いている。今回、犠牲となったのは21歳のスペイン人女性、クラウディア・タコロンテ・アギレラさんだった。クラウディアさんは、メキシコのモレロス州立自治大学（UAEM）にスペインからの交換留学生として在籍していた。
カナリア諸島出身のクラウディアさんは土曜日の夜、メキシコ中部モレロス州クアウトラで刃物による襲撃を受け、殺害された。
モレロス州検察当局は、この事件を女性であることを理由とした殺人、フェミサイドとして捜査しているが、この報告書の執筆時点で逮捕者は出ていない。

3月初旬には、同じ大学の看護学科に在籍していたカロル・トレドさんの行方が分からなくなった。UAEMでは再び抗議活動が行われた。3日後、遺体はマサテペックの自宅から数キロ離れたコアテテルコで発見された。2人はいずれも18歳だった。
5月24日、15歳のミシェル・イツァヤナ・フエンテス・カルデロンさんは、画用紙を買うためにヤウテペックの自宅を出た。彼女はUAEMの高校課程の生徒で、同大学の教員の娘でもあった。その後、行方不明となった。10日後、遺体が近隣の観光地として知られる町、テポストランで発見された。
メキシコ市のスペイン総領事館は、クラウディアさんの事件を注視している。スペイン外務省筋によると、総領事館は「亡くなった女性の家族と連絡を取り、事件の状況解明に取り組んでいるメキシコの司法当局とも継続的に連絡を取っている」という。
一方、クラウディアさんが幼児教育を学んでいたグラナダ大学は、月曜日午前11時、在学生だったクラウディアさんを追悼するため、すべての学部、学校、職場の入口で1分間の黙とうを行うと発表した。
