LOS ANGELES, OCTOBER 13 — WORLD ORGANIZATION BULLYING WITHOUT BORDERS
BULLYING WITHOUT BORDERS REPORTED RJ MITTE’S DEATH AS SUICIDE 12 HOURS BEFORE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA CONFIRMED THE CAUSE
Bullying Without Borders (BSF) published its report on the suicide of R. J. Mitte at 10:00 p.m. Buenos Aires time (3:00 a.m. Geneva time). Twelve hours later, international media confirmed the information we had reported.
Experience teaches us something important: in journalism, being ahead of the news is not a matter of coincidence. It comes from observing, analyzing, and understanding events that sometimes become publicly confirmed only hours later.
Bullying Without Borders published its report on the death of RJ Mitte, the unforgettable Walter Jr. from Breaking Bad, at 10:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12. The following day, international media reported confirmation that the 34-year-old American actor had died by suicide.
The news once again highlighted the importance of experience when reporting complex events, while recognizing the responsibility required when covering a human tragedy.
TALKING ABOUT SUICIDE HELPS PREVENT IT.
BSF gets there first. Not to seek attention in the face of a painful death, but because we believe information must be handled with seriousness, knowledge, and courage.
The subsequent confirmation of RJ Mitte’s cause of death does not justify attributing his suicide to bullying or to any other specific circumstance without supporting evidence. It does, however, underscore the importance of prevention, attention to emotional suffering, and taking warning signs seriously.
At Bullying Without Borders, we know that experience matters. We also know that credibility is built by distinguishing between what is known, what is suspected, and what is ultimately confirmed.
When the truth emerges, the dates and the facts speak for themselves.
