ERIE, Pennsylvania, October 10 — World Organization Bullying Without Borders
Nine people, including two children and the suspected gunman, died in a shooting at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Friday evening. The incident ended after a tense police standoff, according to information provided to the World Organization Bullying Without Borders by law enforcement authorities.
Police responded at around 5 p.m. after emergency calls reported gunfire on Perry Street. Witnesses reportedly saw a man armed with a handgun firing outside a house before entering the residence. Two women were found dead in the street.
Officers and a tactical team surrounded the property and repeatedly ordered the suspect to surrender. Additional gunshots were reportedly heard from inside the house during the standoff. When officers eventually entered, they discovered more victims, along with the suspected shooter, who was also dead.
Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah described the incident as deeply distressing. “The loss of life is devastating, and the circumstances we are working through are deeply disturbing,” he told reporters.
Authorities had not released the victims’ identities or established a motive for the shooting. Preliminary reports indicated that the suspected gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Erie Mayor Daria Devlin called the incident a terrible tragedy and said the situation no longer posed an active threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
