Mahmoud Ajjour, el niño palestino reconocido como Campeón Mundial contra el Bullying 2025, inspira un mensaje global de solidaridad

DOHA, Qatar. Mahmoud Ajjour, un niño palestino de nueve años que perdió ambos brazos tras un ataque en Gaza, fue reconocido por Bullying Sin Fronteras como Campeón Mundial contra el Bullying 2025. Actualmente vive en Doha junto a su familia, que buscó refugio en Qatar tras abandonar Gaza.

Una fotografía de Mahmoud realizada por Samar Abu Elouf, fotoperiodista palestina originaria de Gaza, obtuvo el reconocimiento World Press Photo, convirtiendo su historia en un símbolo de las consecuencias humanas de la guerra y de la capacidad de sobreponerse a la adversidad.

Un símbolo de esperanza

Bullying Sin Fronteras destacó la historia de Mahmoud como una fuente de inspiración para continuar su trabajo internacional contra el bullying y el ciberbullying.

«Mahmoud nos llena de valor y esperanza. Su imagen nos recuerda la importancia de la solidaridad, la dignidad humana y la protección de la infancia», señaló la organización en un mensaje con motivo del 2 de mayo, Día Mundial contra el Bullying.

La entidad expresó su agradecimiento a Mahmoud, a Samar Abu Elouf y al Gobierno de Qatar por su solidaridad y por contribuir a que la historia del niño alcance una audiencia internacional.

Qatar y la solidaridad con la infancia

La organización destacó asimismo el papel de Qatar como país de acogida para Mahmoud y su familia, y describió la solidaridad y la educación como herramientas fundamentales para promover una convivencia respetuosa entre los estudiantes de todo el mundo.

«A todas las personas que se unen a esta lucha diaria contra el acoso y el ciberacoso, gracias. La protección de niños y adolescentes requiere un compromiso colectivo y sostenido», expresó la entidad.

Bullying Sin Fronteras sostiene que el acoso y el ciberacoso constituyen un problema mundial que exige respuestas coordinadas de las familias, las escuelas, las instituciones y los gobiernos.

Palestinian boy Mahmoud Ajjour, named 2025 World Champion Against Bullying, inspires global message of solidarity

DOHA, Qatar. Mahmoud Ajjour, a nine-year-old Palestinian boy who lost both arms in an attack in Gaza, has been named the 2025 World Champion Against Bullying by Bullying Without Borders. He now lives in Doha with his family, who sought refuge in Qatar after leaving Gaza.

A photograph of Mahmoud taken by Samar Abu Elouf, a Palestinian photojournalist from Gaza, received recognition from World Press Photo, bringing international attention to his story as a symbol of the human cost of war and the ability to face adversity.

A symbol of hope

Bullying Without Borders highlighted Mahmoud's story as an inspiration for its continued international efforts to combat bullying and cyberbullying.

“Mahmoud fills us with courage and hope. His image reminds us of the importance of solidarity, human dignity and the protection of children,” the organisation said in a message marking May 2, World Day Against Bullying.

The organisation thanked Mahmoud, Samar Abu Elouf and the government of Qatar for their solidarity and for helping bring the boy's story to an international audience.

The organisation also highlighted Qatar's role as a host country for Mahmoud and his family, describing solidarity and education as essential tools for promoting respectful relationships among students worldwide.
